Golden Anniversary

Seven years ago today, on 07-07-07, I married the cutest, sweetest boy that swept me off my feet in high school.

In seven years we've gone through 3 moves, living in 3 cities and 2 states, survived and graduated seminary, began working in ministry, had one amazing baby boy, built a house, had some amazing trips and adventures, cried a lot, laughed a lot more and have been on our knees together praying for our marriage, each other and our family. I love him more today than I thought I did seven years ago. The Lord has moved and worked in our marriage in mighty ways and I know that He continues to be at work now. Looking forward to growing old with my love and seeing how the Lord will bless us.

Twelve years ago today I had a crush on a cute 16 year old boy. That cute boy asked me to "go out" with him and to our Valentine's dance and I said YES.

I didn't know it then, but that would be THE most important, life-changing decision I will have ever made. It would change the course of my life over the next twelve years. Because I said yes to him, I began going to his church and his youth group and would get to fall in love with, not just him but, my Abba-Father. Because I said yes to him, I would make life-long friends with those in his youth group that would carry me on through those twelve years. Because I said yes to him, I was adopted into his family in a time that I needed a family, and as a Daughter of the King. Because I said yes to him, I got to partner alongside that cute boy in ministry for the next twelve years. Because I said yes to him, he became my best friend and life partner and we would get to experience so much together through the next twelve years.

I can see now looking back what a life changing decision it was to say yes to that cute boy twelve years ago. I see now what a turn my life took by saying yes and I am SO grateful and blessed that God would use a cute 16 year old boy to change my life forever. Tony is my greatest gift my sweet Father could have given me. After saying yes twelve years ago, I got to be in ministry, go on missions, go on vacations, move to Texas, become a mom..... Who knew a Valentine's dance date would make such a life changing difference! ;) Happy Date-A-Versary Love!

10 years and a photo shoot

Ten years today I started dating my best friend, my husband and love of my life! I cannot believe it has been ten years! There have been SO many changes and different life chapters the last ten years: graduating high school, graduating college, getting engaged/married, several surgeries, a dog, a new calling on our life, moving to Texas and now.... we are about to become PARENTS!

So, instead of the typical blast from the past of photos of our last ten years, lets get excited about our next chapter of our lives with photos from our maternity photo shoot! YAY! :)

Hope you enjoyed some of our favorites! We have some awesome talented friends here to take theses photos!!

Take me to the Beach

For our anniversary weekend we treated ourself to the BEACH! :) Friday morning we hit the road towards Corpus Christi to celebrate our 4 years in the most relaxing ways we know how... being beach bums.

Corpus is only about a 7ish hour drive from Fort Worth so it was a great long weekend trip! Tony got us a great deal at a hotel in Corpus that had a kitchenette. So we were able to bring our cooler to the beach everyday for sandwiches and snacks and we were able to cook hamburger helper on the little stovetop for dinner to save some money!

There weren't any really good beaches in Corpus (there is the shoreline, which is technically a beach, but not that anyone hung out on or swam at), so we drove about 40 minutes each day to Port Aransas with had tons of beaches and fun beachy, touristy shops. ;)

We did nothing all weekend but sit and relax each day on the beach (I read some, Tony studied Hebrew). We went out to dinner 2 nights, but mainly relaxed in our hotel and caught up on our Harry Potter movies. ;)

It was soo great not having to think of anything all weekend and just relax together and enjoy the ocean and the sand!

Out to dinner one night for some great seafood!

Love me the life of a beach bum! :)

Perfect anniversary!

Happy Anniversary Love

4 years ago today was the most blessed day of my life.

I married my best friend...

a man who has a heart for God,

a man who makes me laugh uncontrolably,

a man who can always make me smile with just one word,

a man with a passion to see students come to Christ,

a man who has stood beside me for almost ten years,

a man who is never too serious for my own good,

a man who loves me unconditionally and shows me everyday...

Thank you God for blessing me!

This is real love people.

It All Started 9 Years Ago...

There are many times in the life of Diamend and myself's relationship where people have asked, "How long have you guys been together?" or "How did you start dating?" Well tonight I will answer both of these questions. Diamend and I went to the same Middle School since Diamend moved to town in 7th Grade. I had been in the school district and since 2nd grade so by default I was much more popular than she (at least I think so). When we first met she claims I hated her but I think I just did not notice...sorry love. She claims my hate came from her because I did not like the Highlighter Written Valentine Card she gave me out of"pity" as she has put it.

The years went on and, well, lets say I started to notice her. ;-) It was our sophomore year and I asked her out. Since neither of us were old enough to drive my mom drove me to the mall to meet her after she got off work at Bergner's. We went to the latest movie showing at the Mall, "Josie and the Pussycats" believe me, I went only for her. After the movie my mom picked us up and drive her home. Needless to say I thought the date went well, she turned me down. She said she didn't want to date me...I was crushed but she claims there was more to it than her not liking me. (But since this is my version we'll leave it out) However, I am a persistent guy so the story, obviously does not end here.

As a more confident Junior I decided that I was going to pursue her again, but indirectly this time. So as any high school guy knows, if you want to date a girl you have to make her jealous of someone else who went on a date with you. So I did what any guy would do, I asked her best friend out on a date. It was a double date with a friend of mine and hers as well, so low key and very innocent. I knew that it would not work out but it did get her attention. Shortly after we were able to strike up a conversation on foreign, out-dated form of communication called IM-ing. This is short for "Instant Messaging" for you younger generations.

This was used on a computer with AOL 4.0 instead of "Text Messaging". I flirted several nights, hinting that there was "someone I liked and she knew her really well." Then on a night chilly and dark, very similar to tonight, over the IM-ing on February 7th 2002 I asked Diamend to be my girlfriend. Believe it or not she said yes! Although she didn't know it, but the very next day would tell her everything about me she would ever have to know.

The very next day was a weird day at school that gave us the opportunity to do activities after lunch like sports, drama, game show, and other stuff. Diamend was a drama queen and I was a jock. Surprisingly to her I signed up for the drama thing to be with her. Knowing I was a jock she was shocked to see that I had a hidden "Ham" inside of me when it comes to the stage. I don't quite remember the day but I remember a skit with a Kern twin that had to do with a banana. Still to this day Diamend is shocked when I embarrass her in public, although if she were to remember back to this day she would have know that I will always embarrass her even if we had just started dating. I embarrassed her with one line, "Is that a banana in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" And the first time in human history it really was a banana in his pocket.

We were a happy couple...take a look at the young Tony and Diamend...yea those are highlights in my hair. Don't judge you had them too or wanted them!

Through the years we have had some amazing times. God has really blessed us and our marriage! Each day I thank God for the gift He has given me in my amazing wife Diamend. She has encouraged me, grown me spiritually, and loved me more than I deserve. After God, she is my strength and my support. We have been happily married for just over 3 1/2 years now and we often look back at this story on how providential our relationship was in God's plan for our lives. She is the second best thing to happen to me, outside of my relationship with Christ and I am thankful that each morning I get to wake up and see her next to me!

Now, we have changed a bit...my hair is getting further back and I've lost the highlights, Diamend's is shorter...we've "grown up" a bit (although I still actively embarrass Diamend)...and much more.

But the number one thing that neither of us could foresee was the call into ministry by God. And since we have gotten that call our relationship and life has been more blessed than we could ever imagine. We would have it no other way!

I love you Diamend more than you know and I love the way our story has started and I'm excited to see how it continues!

He Proposed!.... 5 years ago

Five years ago tomorrow, Tony proposed. January 29, 2006 a nervous, 20 year old Tony made some very "James Bond" plans to ask me to marry him. It was such a happy, exciting day!

As I was memory searching, I found this blog post from my old xanga account just days after detailing the event (remember that I am only 20 - and VERY excited - when writing this post!):

Feb 1, 2006:
I'M ENGAGED!!!!! Finally after four years, Tony popped the question!!!!! I'm sooooo excited. I have the most amazingly, sweet and romantic... FIANCE.... ever!!!! If you don't already know, I'll tell you how it happened!! Sunday, I was in a bridal show for a wedding expo. So, while I was on stage modeling one of the dresses, Tony shows up on stage in a tux and gets down on one knee in front of everyone!!! It was the most amazing and perfect proposal I could have ever asked for! I was crying, my mom was crying, his mom was crying, people I dont even know were crying. AND since, it was at a wedding expo, we got free professional pictures of the proposal.

What a happy moment in my life! I thank God everyday that my wonderful blessing of a husband proposed just 5 short years ago.

Love you! ;)

Houston Getaway!

To celebrate our anniversary, we drove off to Houston for the weekend!! It was soo wonderful to steal away just the two of us and relax away from school and work and stress and just BE.... :)

Houston is a 4 - 4.5 hour drive from Fort Worth and made for a great little road trip!! We had a great play list and a fun book of 1000 questions ;) And along the way is this famous pitstop called Buc-ee's! Not sure why it's famous... but it is HUGE and has everything and THE cleanest and largest bathrooms EVER! And it is especially famous for their Beaver Nuggets! Of course we had to partake....

We were very blessed to get a great deal on some tickets to a Cardinals v. Astros game at Minute Maid Park!! AND we even got a sweeet deal on a room across the street at the
Inn at the Ballpark!

It was so exciting to get to see the Cards play in TX! We even got to get close up during practice!!

And being that Houston is only and hour away from Galveston... We couldn't miss an opportunity for a day at the beach when we were sooo close! So Sunday morning we drove the hour to the coast and spent the day seaside! :)

Of course... We each got a little more sun burnt than we would have like... but it was totally worth it! ;) Have a great week!!
