Two words: Terrible Twos. Two little words that hold such truth about your once perfect little baby... the moment (or for us, a couple months before) they turn two cause havoc in your house. Why oh why must this year be so terrible!?
Actually, I have a love-hate relationship with the year of two. I love all the new things Grayson is doing, learning, and saying. I love how much we can play and pretend play is beginning and all the fun and laughter that turning two and communicating/understanding better brings. But I hate the "no!"s and the screaming and the tantrums... Oh my word, the tantrums! I hate how this little two year old can rip out my heart and stomp on it with his hurtful eyes and screaming in my face and not wanting me. Then I love when he returns to his sweet self and tells me sorry and gives me the world's best hug and asks to cuddle. It's such an emotional roller coaster!
Grayson actually threw a fit last night in the car because he didn't want to ride in the car, he wanted to walk home.... I mean really, where does he come up with this stuff!? And he was legitimately upset that I wouldn't let him walk. Right now we are in the middle of a tantrum marathon... isn't that awesome!? Praying it ends before I lose my mind.
Let's get real, I know I have some momma friends in the battlefield with me this year! Praying for you all! ;) I hear three is even worse. :( For now, I'm going to enjoy two, tantrums and all - and hold on to the smiles and giggles and hugs.

Update and back story
We just got back from Rush Week this weekend and have lots to catch up on and pics of our week and Grayson's week with Nana and Papa! Until I can write it all out and go through all the pics, here is an overdue update. :)
So I am 13 weeks along now and finally starting to feel good again. This pregnancy is much different than with Grayson, but I am soaking it all up! So here is a little back story of how this has all happened...
Back in early May I was feeling just off.. ya know? And we had been trying to get pregnant and wasn't getting pregnant and so I thought I'd just go in and make sure there wasn't anything going on with me that would be affecting anything. One of my blood tests came back that I had a low ovarian reserve level (the blood levels of my remaining eggs) and it was abnormally low for my age. So basically it might be difficult for me to get pregnant on my own. I began to process and grieve the idea that it just might not happen again for us.
Fast forward five weeks, and I was still feeling just off. Exhausted and cramping and I was late. I didn't think anything of it or that it could even be possible so soon after such news, but I asked Tony to stop by the store on the way home and get 3 different brands of tests, just in case.
Imagine my surprise, excitement, joy and awe when this happened...

I'm not really sure if God was testing my faith to trust Him or if He is just showing off. ;) I am completely in awe of the miracle He is allowing to grow in me right now! He is so much bigger than tests results or what a doctor says. Praising Him!

Off the grid
Summer time for a family in student ministry is super busy! Tony has been crazy busy with student events, camps, retreats and meetings. So over fourth of July weekend we went off the grid for a much needed family getaway!
It was so nice to get away just the three of us and not check in on our phones or email and just be together! We saved a lot of money and rented a little VRBO (vacation rentals by owner) cabin with a pool and playground in San Antonio and relaxed and played all weekend! I had never been to San Antonio before, so it was fun to go there and see the Riverwalk. Just far enough to get away, but not too long of a road trip. :) We swam every day (Grayson is getting so good at swimming and being confident in the water!), we napped and ate lots of not good for us food, we ate on the Riverwalk, took a boat ride and watched the fireworks from the car as it began to rain. ;) But it was such a great weekend together. So thankful!
Because we rarely had our phones on us or on at all... we didn't get many pics to document the trip - but here are a few attempts at some family selfies. ;)
Quick attempt at family selfie before it started raining right before the fireworks...

Let's Get Real Thursday

If you've read many of these, you know my feelings on the show Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. After reading my last post on Daniel Tiger, it should be no surprise to you that I got a little more excited than the normal parent when I saw new episodes on Netflix this weekend! New episodes!!! Ya'll don't even know! We have been watching the same 10 episodes for months! I may have even texted Tony in my excitement to share the wondrous news!
Let's get real... someone has been there... right!? Please, anyone? Tell me I'm not alone in my crazy! ;)

Golden Anniversary
Seven years ago today, on 07-07-07, I married the cutest, sweetest boy that swept me off my feet in high school.
In seven years we've gone through 3 moves, living in 3 cities and 2 states, survived and graduated seminary, began working in ministry, had one amazing baby boy, built a house, had some amazing trips and adventures, cried a lot, laughed a lot more and have been on our knees together praying for our marriage, each other and our family. I love him more today than I thought I did seven years ago. The Lord has moved and worked in our marriage in mighty ways and I know that He continues to be at work now. Looking forward to growing old with my love and seeing how the Lord will bless us.
